Where do I find the Websites to invite?
The best place to start is at a web ring that you know is mostly if not all
women webmasters. You can go to Ring Surf and WebRing and in the search box type
in "Women Web Rings", "Women Webmasters" or even just plain "Women".
You could even think about the gardens we have here in WOSIB. ie: Literary,
Recipe and Snailmail...in the search box type in "Women Literary", "Recipe" or "Penpal
Rings" You will be surprised how many rings and sites there are available for
you to search...
Sometimes you can be lucky enough to find the perfect Webring, one that hasn't
been surfed or dug through before...you can follow the webring through all the
sites and sign most of the guestbooks....
Another good way to find websites is to surf guestbooks.... I know it sounds
odd, but really it isn't...believe it or not, there have been a fair number of
members found this way....a guestbook it like a treasure trove of names and
URL's....
There are also search engines to think of....a lot of Butterflies find typing in
a certain subject or name can bring them a range of wonderful URL's....you can
also type in certain keywords like : Women, female homepage, homepage, Mothers
etc etc....
The Best thing to use though is your imagination....if you can get that rolling,
then everything else will fall into place....and you'll be finding sites in no
time...

2.
Can I leave an invitation in a tag board, message board or email?
No, you cannot send an invitation via email, this can be considered spam and
WOSIB can get into trouble...if you would like to invite a certain site, but
cannot find a guestbook, then contact the head of this garden and send her the
site's name, URL and other details....
Yes, you may leave an invitation in a tag or message board, but please check if
there is a guestbook first....some people do not like a bunch of images and
stuff clogging up their boards.

per week.

You can take an LOA (leave of absence) by filling out a form to make it
official. This form will notify all the gardens you are a member of, but only if
you mark off those garden's in the list. You can visit the form by

need contact the head of this garden with an explanation (out of politeness) and
with the dates that you wish to be LOA for.

How long can I take a LOA?
An official WOSIB LOA is for a period of up to 30 days. Should you wish for more
time, you must either fill out the
LOA form again
or contact the Co-Leaders... You can find their email addresses at the
Management Page,

The Social Butterflies LOA is for a period of two (2) weeks maximum, if you need
more time you will need to let us know on or before that 2 week mark. (This may
be different, it is on a case by case basis.)

What am I looking for when I see a website built by a woman?
When surfing websites, the first thing you should always check for is if the
webmaster is actually female. Believe it or not, a lot of men enjoy pretty
backgrounds & graphics and sometimes these sites are deceiving. Don't assume
that because the graphics are feminine, the the site belongs to a female.
Also check that the site is not already a member of the WOSIB Webring, sometimes
there may not be an approved button on the first page or any indication that the
webmaster is a member other then a ring. Check for the WOSIB Approved button or
anything else pertaining to WOSIB. This is very important.
One of the most important factors in choosing a site is the content, we would
hate to have in our webring or group is a site that is full of flaming, abuse or
pornography. It is like we are advertising that we just don't care, which of
course is not true. Thankfully Becca checks out all sites asking to join WOSIB.
Even though Becca checks out the sites, we should always be aware of what we are
doing. Let's not make more work for other members, if we can help it.
After you have checked out the site and you are sure that it is owned by a
female webmaster, there is no pornography, hate, etc on the site and it is
within all of WOSIB guidelines, find the site's guestbook. If no guestbook is to
be found, please contact the Head of this garden with the site's details and the
Head will look into it for you. If a guestbook is found, then make sure you look
back at least three (3) months to check if any other Social Butterfly/WOSIB
Digger has signed the guestbook. If they haven't, then go ahead and leave your
invite in the guestbook.
Please remember though, do not send a email. This is considered Spam.

Where can I find WOSIB approved graphics for Socializing (Digging)?
You can find lovely premade calling cards by clicking here. Underneath each card
you will find the code for your convenience in filling out a guestbook. You will
not need to download each graphic, the code will automatically link to the image
and display it in the guestbook you sign.
The best way to keep these codes on your computer is to copy and paste them into
notepad and store in a folder marked Social Butterflies so you won't have to
visit this site each time you wish to socialize.

What are the guidelines for signing a guestbook?
A. Images in
Guestbooks - Most guestbooks allow the usage of images, but some still do
not. You will have to find out whether a guestbook allows images or not before
you leave your calling card. Bravenet has an note just above the comments box to
let you know whether or not you may use html.
With other guestbooks, you will have to look through other entries to see if
other guests have left calling cards or have added html. If there is no
indication of images/html etc, then that usually means the book does not allow
it. If the guestbook does not allow html, please add the invitation message
without html or coding and only add a link to the calling card.
B. Signing Guestbooks - Please ONLY leave your name/nickname, the
Butterflies email address (if you need to), The main WOSIB Site as your URL and
the invitation coding in the comments box. Do not need to leave your own details
other then your name, since you are digging/inviting for WOSIB. If you want to
leave a personal message because you loved the site, then do so AFTER you have
left your Social Butterfly Message.

How do I copy and paste?
We suggested creating a folder for Social Butterflies on your computer (to keep
your calling card codes for easy access.) This section will tell you how to add
(copy and paste) the codes to your notepad document. *Note* You are not limited
to "notepad", we mentioned notepad because it is a common program in most PCs.
Copy and paste is one of the easier tasks when learning about your computer, but
it can be difficult if they have not had to copy and paste anything before.
As with anything - practice makes perfect - if you follow this tutorial step by
step, you will be copying and pasting in no time.
